New features of on-Air monitoring in ScreenBox and AirMonitor

24/7 cable and satellite operators have to provide a high quality on-Air monitoring to oversee the accordance with federal laws (e.g. accordance with the audio loudness standard of ads during TV shows). For that reason BRAM Technologies has created digital automated monitoring system ScreenBox and multi-channel control recording system AirMonitor, which meet the high standard of any TV broadcast production from small TV studios to federal/regional TV channels.

Through the innovated functional features, these systems will extremely increase efficiency of the sound and image evaluation. In addition to the current on-Air control tools, BRAM Technologies developed the following new features in their audio/visual monitoring systems:

  • Video signal loss (black video, frozen video) tracking
  • Detection of an increasing/decreasing volume threshold
  • Sound loudness measurement in LUFS units according to EBU R 128 recommendation for providing an optimal and comfortable sound level to TV viewers, especially during TV ads.

An operator can detect the number and duration of fails by indicators displaying on the screen.

The following advanced tech functions were also implemented in ScreenBox and AirMonitor:

  • Subtitles over video monitoring and playback
  • Multichannel intercom recording and playback of technical staff conversations (ability to simultaneously record additional tracks of technical specialists’ conversations to control their operation)
  • Monitoring of on-Air events information on the multiscreen (capability to receive information from the Autoplay system: name of the current and next on-Air playlist event, time before the end of the current event, start type of the Next event)

Through the automation of errors detecting, monitoring process becomes more effective and human factors impact is reduced.
